Did someone page me?

Yep, she finished me. How many of you think it will take a full "term" for her to get the second one of me done? Yea, me too.

paging POTUS

I am a poor neglectful potus knitter. I am back to knitting on my own socks. I will work on potus today, finish maybe?? No guarantees.

I am still alive in the Sock Wars. I have a very nice assasin, we have been in e-mail contact.

And a small look into my life, the boy says to me, quite offhandedly and late last night, "oh yea, mom, I might be going to Homecoming this weekend." and off he went upstairs to bed.
WHAT??

Done!!

These were the fastest socks I have ever made. Man this is intense! My assasin e-mailed me to inform that her "weapon" was going out Monday Fed Ex. Well no delivery today and I was able to crank out my weapon and get it out to my victim ASAP.

details:
pattern = Socks of Doom
yarn = Peruvian Quechua (65% Alpaca, 35% Tencel) from Elann
color = smoldering embers
needles = Knit Picks size US3 (3.25mm)

I gotta tell you I did not enjoy knitting these socks. I have knit with Alpaca before but not Tencel. This yarn had me scratching something fierce. As you can see I added small goodies to ease the pain.

Momobeans, they are on their way.

Sock War is hell

I am busily knitting on my socks of doom, but a little birdie has informed me that I am in the crosshairs bigtime! ACK! Gotta go knit some more.

The not so Seahawks socks.

back to my Sock Wars knitting.

the game is afoot....

Today is the day. Sock Wars begins...well sort of. It is the 22nd and the Sock Wars dossier is to arrive - but it hasn't. Yarn Monkey is driving 700+ sock knitters wacko today. It may not be all her doing though, power outages from hurricane Gordan hit her area last night and it is suspected that she doesn't have power. All's fair in war huh?

I am working on my Seahawks socks in the meantime. However there is a bit more purple in there and as most of you know, there is NO purple in Seahawks colors. But they sure are purty. I will post a pic tomorrow.

ETA: pattern has been posted, but no dossier e-mail yet.
ETA: my target is momobeans! beware....

The Biggest Loser is Back!!!!

Do you have any idea how much I love this show? LOVE it! I have been hooked since season 1 and look forward to each season and special edition show. My son says I am "obsessed with fat people." But that is not true. I love the stories, getting to know the people, rooting for them, and yes crying for them when they get booted. Oh and Bob Harper is nice on the eyes isn't he?

Seriously.

I must confess I purchased The Biggest Loser book, note pad and pen and I have checked out the workout DVD from the library.

The Booga Bump

Everybody's doing it. Making Booga Bags that is. That is my Booga Bag on the left and mom's on the right. Great GREAT knit. I love the colors of both.

And here it is in its natural habitat.

one down, one to go

I passed all my pre-employment tests and had my mini-interview with HR. I am scheduled for interview #2 on Thursday.

Keep those good vibes coming!

Ugly

Even a handknit sock couldn't make this look better.
This happened yesterday while doing minor home repairs. I thought it was broken but after ice, then heat and elevation, it feels much better today. It figures I would do this - tomorrow I have an interview, and will need to shove this into dress shoes. (yippee)

She has pants!

I stood my ground. I really wanted to start those Seahawks inspired socks and finally made Greta some pants.
Meet Greta Grabowski
She spends her Sundays keeping up with her favorite team and reminiscing about when Da Coach took us to the Superbowl.

Go Bears!

"What doing?"

A cute little phrase in my family aquired from my (very young at the time) brother.

As you can see I am plugging along on POTUS and I am wearily looking at my tiny ball of yarn after each round. There are the "free" pair of socks in neopolitan colors (hey Sockapalooza pal - look familiar?)I have been working up.

What is this? It is HandSpun from SIL (on left) and HandDyed from my KSKS (on the right) I am working up a skinny slip stitch scarf with the handspun and I swatched for socks with the hand-dyed. Yummy soft people, yummy soft. Do these look like Seahawks colors to you? Me too. I also have another cake of Seahawk inspired HandSpun from SIL (forgot to include in pic) that is going into the slip-stitch scarf.
It is a bounty of yarny goodness around here. I am being strict with myself though and will not cast on those Seahawk Socks in Hand-dyed yarn until I get some pants for my Babe and post her pic!

MIA

Wow, where did the day go? It's not like we are busy around here.....

Wednesday, September 13, 2006

ooh pretty

Hmm what could this be?

A Booga Bag! Here it is in pre-felted glory enjoying the sunshine.

After a mere 2 runs in the washer and 2 days drying we have completion.
Wow - what a fun knit! I have more Noro to make another one in more spring-like colors. I am going to wait until then to knit it up. But the biggest news is this was GREAT TV knitting. Woo Hoo. I found something I could knit and watch TV at the same time. I'm going to try a hat in the round next. But I have POTUS and another started pair of socks to finish first.

TGIF

Eh, doesn't really mean the same thing when I'm not working. Just random bits today

+ NFL football is back, Woo Hoo!

+ I have started a spreadsheet for Secret Pal 9 swap possibilities (sad but true - I love spreadsheets)

+ Got the “arsenal” for the sock wars socks - it has taken me by surprise.

+ I am currently at the end of skein 2 on the Booga Bag

+ I think I will put out all the fall decorations this weekend

+ I need to make bottoms for my poor *cold* knitted babe (photo when completely dressed) plus 2 more are on deck

+ Plus I am stalking my mailbox for my KnitPicks order that was shipped 8/29

Off to ranch sit in Roy.

Did you hear that?

Did you? Last night I am lounging on the couch watching Bones and what does Hodgins say? Pomatomus saltatrix! Yes he did! I backed it up 3 times to make sure. Here I am slaving away on POTUS and now Pomatomus saltatrix is said on TV.
Freaky.

weekend wrap-up

First here is nephew Z and the boy.

While at the ranch SIL requested that I start her first sock on 2 circs. She was on her 3rd try and I didn't want her to give up. She is currently knitting her first sock on DPNs. She is traveling to nephew L's basic training graduation (yep I've got 2 nephews in the service!)this week and wanted me to cast on for sock #2 on her second set of DPNs in case she finished sock #1. Ambitious!

I am to the heel of POTUS but it is stalled. By what? Oops, I cast on for a Booga Bag. My first. Man it is addictive. I am halfway through skein #2.

I also have been staring at several mini-balls of leftover sock yarn. So my little creative mind started noodling and I started a "free" sock. It has been frogged once already and now I have a partial on stitch holders and will start its mate so I may try to match colors. This poses to be interesting....

After stalking the Green Gable Knit Along for months I purchased the pattern and I am now in search of some yarn in jungle green. YUM Oh and I joined the KAL too.

And since too much is never enough I signed up for Secret Pal 9. Still waiting for my confirmation.

I went to the ranch, and with me I took.......

No seriously! This is what I packed to go 12 miles for 22 hours!
Well, I had stuff I wanted to show, stuff I wanted to knit, stuff I had to deliver, and stuff just in case.

We got about 2.5 hours of sleep before the nephew arrived and then we visited & visited & visited. It is always a surprise what the Army can do. (my bro is a vet, I saw the transformation years ago from a different perspective) Z is coming over for a cookout dinner of his choice = chicken tacos.

Enjoy your holiday.
School starts tomorrow.
The boy is ready. A haircut and more hair dye - he is all set.

road trip

We are all off to the ranch to welcome nephew Z home from basic training. He did an "early enlistment" program which means he has to finish his senior year of HS before he goes to AIT. He spent his summer vacation in OK. I can't wait to hear all the stories.

(SIL, mom and I will be knitting while we wait for the soldier to arrive)

have a great weekend.
